Joellen Oslund

Joellen has been involved with horses for over 40 years as an owner, rider, competitor, trainer and instructor. Her riding program focuses on taking riders of any age from the lead line and lunge line to confident intermediate equestrian at a pace tailored to each individual’s needs and desires. She incorporates all aspects of horse care, management, training and horse health into her lessons, especially with children. Her emphasis is on the English riding disciplines to create a well-rounded rider. She also specializes in helping the recreational Western rider develop a balanced seat and independent use of the aids. Joellen also enjoys introducing interested riders to the entry level competitive world of eventing, dressage and jumping. She will be accepting a limited number of horses for training. Her methods return confidence, obedience and understanding to the horse/rider relationship.

Joellen has 2 school horses for inexperienced, beginning children to intermediate teens or small adults for those who do not yet have their own horse. She is a 4H horse project leader and generously donates her time and energy to this wonderful program. No matter what the rider’s experience level or goals, Joellen’s instruction and technique emphasizes respect, safety and joy of accomplishment for the horse and rider in every lesson.

David Busick

Rod Hernandez
Rod Hernandez operates Rod Hernandez Quarters Horses out of Hayward Hills Equestrian Center. With over 25 years of training experience he specializes in the all-around Quarter Horse. Some of Rod’s successes include Multiple Open Gold-N-Grand and AQHA championships in Western Pleasure, and Trail. He has coached his clients to multiple year-end awards in Trail, Showmanship, Western Pleasure and Hunter-Under-Saddle at local AQHA shows. Rod is branching out in to the APHA circuit this year with several wonderful up-and-coming Paint horses. Rod continues to have great success with fixing the “problem” horse that may have been pushed too far too early, as well as putting a great solid start on babies. Mia Yellin

Mia specializes in practical dressage and horsemanship. She focuses her attention on helping those who have no interest in doing competitive riding and for those who are not avid athletes. She concentrates on teaching those who are in it for the journey and love of riding. Her centered riding approach applies to all disciplines e.g. Dressage, Trail Riding, Jumping and pure Pleasure Riding. Mia is also great at helping with all the other stuff, too: manners, leading, lunging, round penning, trailer loading, saddle fitting and other helpful tricks of the equestrian trade.
